Hi everyone, hope you are well.

Can anyone recommend a PCIe 2.0 x2 and PCIe 2.0 x4 and adapter if required for imac 2014 and a 2015?

Also, will I have to do any weird updates or is it pretty much plugin and boot in recovery, format/install? then in the future just normal updates via Mac OS.

carrying on from https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/upgrade-2014-and-2015-imacs-to-ssd-or-pcie.2339212/
But I need to order and install this week as we are out of the country soon.

Thanks for the time guys.

Gareth

- go to https://eshop.macsales.com
- click My Upgrades
- click iMac
- select your model
- click Internal Drive Options or External Storage

If you go with Internal Drive Options, select a kit that includes all the tools you need to get inside the iMac. They have videos to show how to do the drive replacements.
You may want external drive options to connect your original iMac drives (one for PCIe, another for SATA) so you can migrate your files or for backup or whenever you get a drive from somewhere that you want to access.

Thunderbolt 2 can do PCIe 2.0 x4 but not as fast as an internal PCIe 2.0 x4 connection but it should be faster than PCIe 2.0 x2.

Done, bought the OWC Aura Pro, there are various cheaper options, but I guess most mac users like me, use macs to work on not as IT projects! So thanks for the advice, you were right! Get it new from ebay for 140, 1tb, will test before i put in, just need to somehow find a usb converter to test and install before the big strip down!

Thanks Pal!
