OWC's teardown shows that "the PCIe slot and connecting cable are not present unless you order the mini with a Fusion drive. For minis without a Fusion Drive there won’t be a slot for the PCIe SSD."

Also, the SSDs from the Air, Retina '13-later models work in the new mini. Interesting.
 
That seems to contradict the teardown on ifixit.com, unless the unused connector they discovered is for something other than PCIe.

update: I see that they are talking about the cable and the socket on the non-logic-board end of the cable. Sorry for any confusion. It seems to me that a third-party will probably be able to supply a similar cable for those that might want one.

I didn't order fusion, but was able to order the 2014 mac mini with 256gb pciE flash.
