Is/has anyone here run MacOS off a fast Apple SSD with > 2GB of swap space used?

I'm predicting my next desktop will eventually use ~20GB of uncompressed memory and am trying to decided if 16GB DDR4 + NVMe SSD will be good enough or if I need to plan on cashing in for 32 GB up front.

Obviously If I got a 5K I'd buy an 8GB model and upgrade to 24, but I'm also evaluating 4K and Mac Mini options.

Onboard RAM outperforms virtual memory for users that need this. For uses that occasionally make the swap, you will not notice the difference.

Audio, video editing, Photoshop, heavy graphics rendering etc. need more RAM.

There's a reason that an iMac Pro can handle 128G or that a high end graphics station such as a Maya Box (used by film and animation studios) can handle 1T. Some users and applications need this to function well (or at all).
