I am the proud owner of a new 17" macbookpro laptop. But I have an piece of hardware that is for laptops, but has only pcmcia interface. How can I use this on MBP, is there an adapter one could recommend. Additionally, is there anyway to add a pci card slot (say in an external box) to my laptop??

Thanks so much, Dave :):apple:

Short answer - no. The MacBook Pro has an ExpressCard/34 socket which is not PCMCIA compatible.

Longer answer: There may be a third party solution for you: http://www.applelinks.com/index.php/more/the_dueladapter_cardbus_pcmcia_to_expresscard_34_adapter/

It is not impossible for someone to come up with an external PCI chassis that connects through ExpressCard, but I haven't heard of one, and it would be &#&$ expensive.

$100 = worth it if it works, thank you!! :)
