PCSX reloaded, can't save a game. Help!!!

I'm using PCSX reloaded on my Mac. I can play games by selecting file/ run ISO. I played Ace Combat 3, and it worked perfectly. Then I tried to save to the memory card in library/application support/ pcsx/ memory cards/ mcd001.mcr. When I select an empty file slot, and select save, nothing happens. It just won't save my game. I also try using file/ freeze state, and that works, but when I select file/ defrost state, the game opens where I froze it, but the game is completely unresponsive. Anyone else have similar problems? Any advice would be most appreciated.
