How do you work this over wifi? My laptop wifi is on, but my phone does not see it. I can get it to work using usb after installing the client on my PC. Anyone know? When I pulled it, the link said make sure something is pointed to 'http://my.iphone'...no idea what that means.

You have it working on PC or no?

For mac you have to create a network, call it what you want and you can add a password for security. Then join the network you CREATED on your mac with the iphone using the wifi option under settings. Once you join the network give the phone about 30 seconds to pull and ip addresss. Then start pdanet and enable the wife router mode under settings.

No, it is not working on my PC unless I do it usb, with the client I installed.

did you try reading the instructions?

Not trying to be rude, just curious if you took the time to read how to set up the wireless network?

http://www.junefabrics.com/iphone/wifi_setup.php

Also, the USB connection with 1.51 works perfectly. It's fast, reliable, and draws much much less power because wifi can be turned off.

Good luck - if you still have questions, let us know.

Not sure if this is slightly off topic, but is PDANet free or do i have to pay for it after 14 days?

Please let me know asap as I need to tether my phone to my laptop for 2 months, as I will be away from home on business.

I believe that after 14 days, pdanet reverts to free with the caveat that only http traffic will be passed through it. So VPN, ssh, etc will not work when tethered to it.

It really is an app that's worthy of purchasing.

Is there another solution to tethering. I saw an app on Cydia called Modem ... Is that as good as PDANet?

I will mostly be using tethering to connect to MSN, and browsing the internet, throughout the 2 months. Will this be possible through the free version of PDANet or Modem? I would consider purchasing the app, but dont think i will ever use it again, after this.

worth it

I don't buy a lot of software, but I bought PDANet. It is far any away the best tethering program out there, and I've tried several.

I'm not sure if HTTPS (secure 443 port) sites will work with the free version of PDANet (after your 14 day trial expires). You'll want to confirm that.

Agreed. I hardly buy any apps but this was the one app that I went and made the purchase. Its really worth it. Specially for me as I travel a lot and have the peace of mind that I have my personal full featured broadband.

Okay, say I do purchase this app. What if I decide to unjailbreak my phone or get a replacement iPhone and then jailbreak again. Will that mean I will have to purchase the app again? As I'm sure that cydia does not work like the app store where if you pay once, you can download as many times as you like.

Or am I missing out on something here?

If your computer is tethered to the iphone, that link will take you to a site where you can purchase the code.

I got it connected VIA usb with the pc now and still nothing happens when I go to that link...

Nevermind Didnt Realize It Was 30 F****** Dollars, Cant Believe They Are Charging That Much, I Mean I Loved It Using At Work Cuz They Put Restrictions On Websites And Pdanet Gets Around It But Damnnnn

It's cheap compared to the cost of a dedicated data card and plan at $60/month.

When I start using PDAnet (1.51) it will work fine and I will be browsing and all of a sudden my phone will reboot on its own. Anybody experience this?
