I've downloaded this app twice, and each install - when I have a PDF open, and either switch to another tab or app - it loses my place and I start at the beginning of the PDF.

Every single time...

It makes it unusable.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Not to me it doesn't.
You could try the following: download Documents from Readdle (for free) and open your pdf from there. Documents will use PDF Expert to open resp. handle the document.

This actually does happen for me on select PDFs – not all PDFs, just some (and it's always books). And I agree – it's annoying. But because it doesn't happen to all my PDFs, I suspected it had less to do with the app and more to do with the nature of the PDF. But this is not so, because the problem does not occur in the OSX PDF Expert. Anyway, on the iPad, I have found that when I switch back to the tab with the PDF, even if it puts me at the beginning of the PDF I can return to where I was by pressing the arrow button (see attached screenshot). Less than ideal, but it makes the app usable – and, in my view it is still the most superior PDF app available.

Hi David,

Sorry to hear about that. Do you close the app, not the document? Do you have the same situation with our User Guide?

Hey there:)

Do you use PDFs with hyperlinks?

I've had none of these issues with PDF Expert for Mac. It has been a great program for me. The latest version now allows be to add my digital signature.

Did you download the app from the App Store or from Readdlemate?

Thanks for the tip! I'm getting this problem too, mainly seems to be larger PDFs but not always, and I've not been able to find a definite pattern among those that are affected.

Here is an example of a PDF which has the problem,

Loge, I tried your PDF and, yes, I got the problem with that PDF too, just the same as many of my PDF books. Please let us know if you find a solution!

Can you try to download the latest 5.5.5 update?

best regards,
Readdle Team

Yes, I am using my iPad Air 2 with Documents 5.5.5.218 and PDF Expert 5.5.5.277 and I still have this problem with many PDF books. If I only could figure out what triggers it, then I might be able to edit/fix the PDF somehow in Acrobat Pro!

Hopefully you can fix this in the near future! (Also, any chance of a two-page view on the iPad app in the near future?)

The problem with the app losing my place in the PDF is now fixed (for my files anyway) in the release updated today.

Thanks Readdle :)

May be David only needs to use the updated version and that too from the App Store. I have been using it and it works good and I have never had any issues with it. But you helped Loge indirectly, see.

Try to download the latest 5.5.6 update. If it doesn't help - please contact our support team directly at helpspot@readdle.com. We'll be able to take a closer look at this issue.
