PDF Woes, iPad questions

I have good reader but I cannot foe the life of me figure out how to save from safari a PDF file for reading on my iPad. Part of the reasons for me getting an iPad was to cut down on printing....right now, I browse for journals on my iPad, copy and email the links to my laptop, download the files and resend to my iPad to use in good reader. I cannot send PDF files to another person from my iPad. I would like to figure a way around this--I have a 64 gb iPad and am barley using the extra capacity!

Also does anyone know how to download archive classics on the iPad for ise in kindle?

I suspect what I need is a downloading, file manager type of ap. I still use my laptop for the heavy lifting but want some independence on my ad.

I use Downloader to download files on my iPad.
It has a "BookMarklet" that installs in safari as a bookmark that you click after you copy the URL of the file you want to download. It will open up downlader and download the file.
You can then send the file from downloader to GoodReader or Airsharing for emailing.

You should also get the new "Webtools" app for the iPad. It adds alot of cool useful "bookmarklets" to safari. Page Search is 1.
 
Hmm cant you copy the link from safari then paste it into good reader and it downloads it? I'm not completely certain..

I hadn't a clue until someone explained to me how to do it. You copy the URL of the PDF. Open up GoodReader and go to Web Downloads, and click on add URL. Paste the URL and bam, PDF was downloaded.

Last time I looked at help was when I was kid wanting to know how to play risk. That was the mid 70's.

Obviously, I am not. *However, I am familiar with the golden rule of reciprocity.*
 
When you have a URL/PDF open in safari, add a "g" to the front of it (so it is then "ghttp")... it then launches GoodReader and downloads it.

Easy Peasy!

That is about all the help i can offer - it was way easier than moving links around and all that jazz i thought :D
 
Also I found this to be really cool. I had some pdfs saved to my computer and wanted to be able to open them in Good Reader. There is a mode you can go into for wireless transfer and it gives you a link to go to on your computer..it is the ip address of the ipad on some port...dunno off the top of my head. But it shows a file uploader and from there you can upload pdfs saved to your computer straight into good reader. I thought this was the coolest thing ever.

I also think it is often pointless but GoodReader's is really good. They actually have a How To for the exact question the OP asked.

Thanks. I will read onto it more. Turns out none of the tricks worked as this is a login required article. I suspect the rest of my kournals will be similar :rolleyes:
 
Maybe someone can answer this for me, as they're all too busy whining ove in the iPhone forum ;)

I thought you were able to click a PDF in mail and send it to the right app (ie Goodreader)?

When I open a mail with a PDF attachment, I simply get an image of the first page and I can't do anything with it. This on iPad and ios4.

Any ideas?

Side note for those of us using ReaddleDocs instead of GoodReader, you can use the "rhttp" protocol and get the same effect.
