I created a PDF in FileMaker Pro to the desktop (not that should matter), and the PDF does not appear on the desktop at all.

Yet, in Finder or PathFinder it's right there in the desktop folder.

If I move it to another folder and then back to the desktop and, viola, it appears. No special settings checked in file information.

This has never happened before 10.11.

Anyone else seeing weird stuff like this???

I rebooted earlier, but this situation hasn't ever happened before in many years.

I guess this is what happens when you download 10.11 on day one...

lots of us have been running 10.11 since the betas first appeared, so 'day one' has nothing to do with it. try making pdfs from other apps (any app, ie go to the Print window and save as pdf); do these also not show up? and what about other types of files, ie text, images?

OK, I figured it out. It wasn't 10.11.

I think I deleted a .DS_Store file in the desktop folder and messed up Finder's display somehow. I deleted that file, reset the .plist, and restarted Finder. It's all OK now.

Thanks,
