Peeling Blackbook

WHY WHY WHY is this happening...

I've been to busy to deal with this up untill now, however since I got my mac book it has been peeling and flaking off at the edges, the black matte finish just peels off.. any ideas of a solution

has anybody else had this proablem and if so have you had any luck dealing with apple, will they replace it...

I mean come on!!!!!!!! I paid a $200 luxury premium for a nicer looking Blackbook and find the little ammount of quality in the case unexcptable

any ideas???

assuming you got the stock model. Take it back to the Apple store and get a replacement. The peeling is a known issue.

If it's something cosmetic like this and it's widely known, yes, Apple will replace the MacBook.

and does anybody else have proablems with this. I have heard some talk, but it does not sound like a widespread proablem.

I wish I had debt with this before the 14 day period, or that the C2D MB had come out before my 14 day period.

on second though, this is not the only proablem I have had. Also whne I open the screen somtimes it wont wake from sleep. I also at times get a spontanious lout whirling noise. its hard to tell weather its the fans spinning really fast for like 10 seconds or weather its the HD ding the same thing. t does not really bother me that much. but for a computer this expensive all of the above put together kinda pisses me off plus the $200 for some matte finish. Dont get me wrong, I love the way it looks becides the peeling. and I love the computer, for theis of you that were worried about the glossy screen. Apple got it right, most of the PC's that I see with the glossy screen, its usually a bad screen that they make glossy to try to make the picture look better, so they make it way to glossy. but apple has managed to make it look really good and really crisp. It even works well outside!!!

This is the first time I have had any troubles with any new computers from apple!!!

and I've purchased all f my recent computers though the refurd store and never had a proable. and on second though, does anybody know what an Apple refurb entails? Like what on the computer do they replace??

Mine had this problem too and Apple replaced it, but it was a few months ago so I don't know what their current policy is. Still, this is a manufacturing defect and not your fault so they should take care of it. I would just call and talk to them.

When they took mine back they told me that they wanted to "capture it for engineering review". If they tell you that they have never heard of this kind of problem, tell them you know of several people that have had theirs 'captured for engineering review', indicating that the problem is at least known to Apple.

Well that usually means that they will replace it with a new one - so I'd definitely go for that. Given that they've known about this for a few months, chances are they know what the problem is already and won't need any additional ones to examine. They might just offer to replace the case or, if you;re really lucky, they'll replace the macbook without any questions at all.

It really depends on who you talk to...
