I need a pen mouse. I've used a Wacom for years - not for drawing but text editing and just generally as a mouse. Now El Capitan has made it redundant and I don't fancy forking out for a new one.

Does anyone know a simple device that will work with OS 10.11?

Thanks

I don't quite understand your question, you say you don't want to fork out for something new, then follow that up by asking for info on something that works on 10.11.
I can tell you that my Bamboo pad with it's pen works just fine on El-Cap but that won't help you, as it would mean "forking out".
Next I dug out an old wacom tablet (CTE-440) and it seems to work quite well also with it's 2 button pen, and both of these tests were done without any wacom drivers installed, methinks installation of the wacom drivers could only improve on what already is a very usable experience.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I know my question is a bit vague. My graphire just about works but not precisely. I can buy a CTE-440 for very little on ebay but have no idea (other than your experience) whether it would work. There are no drivers for the old Wacoms for 10.11 on their site.
There are wireless pens on ebay but I've never used one and again, don't know if they'd work with 10.11 and would function in the same way my old Wacom did. What I meant by 'fork out' was I don't want to spend £100 on a Wacom, when I only need a pen style mouse.

A Google search finds many links to others with your problem, this link looks interesting and would be something I'd look into if I wanted drivers for my wacom units.
[doublepost=1473287114][/doublepost]OK as a test for my own edification, I tried the hack in the previous post related to the "Graphire 3-CTE-430" and it works just fine with my CTE-440. Here is the preference pane installed and the settings all work.
