Everywhere, yet nowhere.
I have been religiously checking my credit card for a pending charge on my credit card for my pre-ordered 3G iPad. They did this when they were sending out the case, a few days before. The pending charge isn't the entire amount, but it is looking promising that we may have delivery next week.

Still not seeing an authorization on my end. US Bank is a tad slow at reporting credit charges though.

nothing pending on mine...maybe its a staggered type thing like with the shipping though? patience is a virtue!

If it is not the whole amount is is a false alarm. Apple does not do payments. A day or two before shipment you will get a hard charge for the whole amount plus tax on your account.

I used the Barclaycard offered during checkout for my 64GB 3G (ordered about 15 min after pre-orders started). I have a new pre-auth charge for approximately $113. It wasn't there earlier this morning and I haven't used the card. My shipping method is Priority now too.

I have a pending charge for $12.00 which is the cost of priority shipping. It showed up yesterday around noon.

Did you order AppleCare? Maybe that is what it's for?

I only have a pre-auth for a small amount. I'm guessing that is for one of the accessories that I've yet to receive.

I used BofA, and the amount on my card is $105, I ordered as soon as Pre-order started in EST, this charge posted yesterday.

No they don't do partial payment, but according to other Mac forums, it appears that Apple will do a 'test' charge to make sure that the card is a valid card. So the pending charge won't go through, the actual amount will be charged when they are doing the shipping.

I ordered on the first day both a Wifi and 3G. I also have Priority shipping and a charge for $12.50 on 4/12 from Apple (not iTunes) that I can't figure out. I did not order any accessories or AppleCare.

I stand corrected, you are right. But who needs the Apple Care if you don't even have the product, right? :) Hopefully it just means the 2 will be coming together.

Ditto here:

Just saw the preauthorization charge hit my VISA. It is for the Applecare only, of course it says it was ready to ship 24 hours after my 3G order! (March 25).

My shipping went to "priority" at the same time...not sure which item is high priority...

Just for a data point, I was charged for the Protection Plan on 4/1 and I was charged for the case on 4/3 (received it on the 6th and it has just been sitting there reminding me of what I don't have). No pending Apple charges.

I ordered 2 64g 3g iPads using 2 credit cards. I had 2 preauthorization charges show up yesterday on one account and 2 more pending today on the other account. All for $1. This is not the original preauthorization charges because they came and went weeks ago.
My shipping on both orders changed from standard to priority yesterday. Enough already! Just send 'em!
Just sayin'
