Hi all,

I have a 6th Gen Classic 160 GB that is acting funny. Went into the test mode and the HD test gave me these figs:

Retracts: 10
Reallocs: 3
Pending Sectors: 3
PowerOn Hours: 629
Start/Stops: 1261
Temp: Current 28C
Min
Max

The Firmware Revision is NB100-05.

This iPod has been acting strangely. Its library of songs (about 100 GB) is still there. It still plays (sometimes playback will pause for a second, then continue on - about once a day).

It will NOT sync, however. When I try to sync it, the whirling beachball of death just goes and goes for minutes on end.

It will not restore, either. Itunes will eventually, after minutes of futzing around and spinning beachball, will finally deliver an error window saying it cannot be restored.

So, it's stuck in a kind of limbo, between working sort of ok with what's on it, but not being able to modify the library at all.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

MG

PS - Reset makes no difference.

those parameters seem pretty good. I would try a new hard drive ribbon cable. Maybe its time to upgrade it to flash media.

Is it true what Tarkan says about 6Gen maximum SDXC card capacity being 128GB?

Not that I have any reason to doubt him, but am just wishing for a bigger drive.
