Penryn iMac/Mac Mini still a possibility?

After the rumor over a month ago( the one that stated that it would release within 4 weeks), we haven't heard any indication of any new refreshes. Anyone think they're still coming, or is Apple just going to wait till July and release the Montevina chipsets instead?

I think Apple is going to wait until June/July for the new chipsets. If they wanted to update the iMac/Mac Mini to Penryn, they would have done so by now, because if they did even tomorrow, the life cycle of them would be very short (assuming they put in Montevina shortly after it was released)

Intel is not scheduled to launch a new set of Penryn mobile CPUs designed to work with the Montevina systemboard platform until May, so it seems very unlikely that Apple would release an iMac or Mac Mini update before those CPUs ship.

As such, I really think Apple will update the entire non-Mac Pro line either at once, or in quick succession, starting at or after WWDC and not before.

Yes, but Apple will likely not launch product the same day Intel launches the CPUs.

I imagine Apple will use the x4500 in the MacBook and the Mac Mini when they move to the Montevina platform.

I think it more likely they move the Mini to the x3100 and the Macbook to the x4500. If its low-end desktop was as powerful as its low-end laptop how could Apple ever live with itself?

More and more people are buying laptops even if they have no need for portability, so chances are MacBook sales will not suffer. Plus, folks who want a 20" LCD (minimum for a Mac Mini) can't get that in any MacBook (Pro).
