Are these two the same concept but re-branded and resold under a new moniker? And if so, has anyone found that their existing Faces that they've spent so much time categorizing gets carried over to the People part of the new MacOS/iOS systems? I'm sorting out People now on my iPhone and it is an extremely cumbersome process!

Not sure - would agree it's a cumbersome process on iOS - the least they could do is give suggestions as to the piles of grouped faces that seem to be the same person but it doesn't have full confidence to tag - or just improve the UI.

On macOS the faces have been replaced with people. And there a two people albums... one from the scan and one from my Mac, which is also on macOS Sierra PB 3.
