How do we charge the phone when travelling or on an airplane?
Even if they make a smaller wireless charging pad that's portable- seems rather unwieldy to bring out in a plane or home.

If wireless charging takes off, then no doubt you will see airlines reconfigure their aircraft to provide wireless charging at each seat. They've already done that for other phone/device related things.

Seats are still on USB-A when the world is on C. It'll be 5 years+ before Airlines adapt to new standard so - we just don't take the phone on trips?

I think by the time that happens battery life will largely be so good most wont need to charge even after using it for most of a day.
So you can't leave your house for more than a day then? What good is an awesome camera if you can't take it anywhere.

There are plenty of powerbanks with qi charging pad on them nowadays, so I doubt this will be an issue.

Well, we are carrying powerbanks with us nowadays. :)

Not a fan. Phones heat up more with wireless charging. What if you wanna use your phone lying down? Can’t do that with wireless charging. Or charging in a car?

Don't worry about it. There will be a way or Apple won't go there.

yeah I travel a lot so I am curious how they solve this
a "powerbank qi charging on it" seems unpalatable and difficult
Ive upgraded ever year since the start but this problem would be a showstopper.

But when are you going to be in a situation where you aren’t near a power source for a long time?

The only time I can think of is camping... and then you can just take a power bank with wireless charging with you, or by then a compact power source or maybe even an AirPower type device that stores electricity.

It’s a long way off yet, if it ever comes. Wouldn’t worry about it.

I am not sure as to whether you are joking or you are serious.
Assuming the latter for the moment.

Purely from observation, i would say that the relationship between battery capacity and power requirement is such that the two grow at the same speed.
To be more precise, power requirement so far has always been constrained by battery capacity.
I can’t imagine that relationship changing any day soon.

Im thinking of all of these cars with CarPlay. Yikes. Sure very new cars have wireless CarPlay, but I feel like apple would need to release a reliable wireless adapter.
