For those looking for plugins to Aperture or Lightroom, Perfect Photo Suite 9 was released this week. The full version can also be a standalone.

I previously used PPS 8. I like 9 well enough to have just deleted the Nik Collection in its favor. Your milage may vary.

Always know your options. ;)

Interesting. OnOne is prolly my least used software. I'm still on 7.5. What are the advantages of version 9 over the older software?

I have both version 8 and version 9. These are certain features that are not provided with version nine, so I was instructed by OneOne to reinstall version 8 and not to remove other PhotoSuit software in the computer. I am not too happy with OneOne. I prefer NIK's plugins, which are easier to use or a lot more intuitive, but since I already paid for PhotoSuit 9 I will use it every now and then; I just won't upgrade this software from now on because I don't like to waste my time having to switch from version 8 to 9 and vice versa.

Sort of complicated but here it goes:

What is happening to Perfect Mask?

Perfect Mask is no longer a module in Perfect Photo Suite 9. We have combined the functionality of Perfect Mask with Perfect Layers 9. A new Quick Mask tool and improvements made to the Perfect Brush will help you create better selections all in one module.

Perfect Mask users will still have the ability to access and use Perfect Mask after installing Perfect Photo Suite 9, it will not be removed. The color spill tool and the pen tool will not be moved into Perfect Layers 9.

To make it easier to understand:

a. with NIK's plugins I don't have to read a book nor watch tutorials. It's very easy to learn how to use it, and the plugins as well as the Topaz plugins (also easy to learn) are shown in CS5 or CS6's Filters folder.

b. To use the OneOne plugins you have to read the instructions, or to watch the tutorials. Also, the plugins are found under CS5 (or CS6's) "Automate" menu.
