Hello forum,

I heard that the internal SSD's of the new MacPro 2019 are not the fastest ones....

- what type of adapters are required to replace them with NVMe-SSDs?

Thank's a lot!

How do the 2 drives present themselves in Disk Utility? As 1 partition / virtual drive?

The Mac Pro doesn't have two independent SSDs (or even one SSD in the case of the 256 GB model).

It has sockets for two proprietary flash daughtercards. The T2 controller uses that flash memory to emulate one SSD - the disk 'controller' is in the T2, the two daughtercards are dumb persistent store for the T2 controller.

Thanks! So in disk utility it shows up as one drive if I get the 1tb option?

Just wondering why Apple can charge so much for the internal SSD if it is a pair of socketed drives.
Proprietary, no doubt, but seems like a bit of a rip off.
Thinking about jumping in to the 7,1 pool, but things like this put me off.
