Performing a Clean Install Revised MB Air

Does anyone have instructions for the new macbook Air 128Gb ssd, how to do a clean install, if you follow the procedures from the first model, you can omit the printer driver, other languages etc. but the applications are on a second DVD called Application DVD (unlike the 1st Macbook Air where it was Mac OS system disk 1 and 2) and its all or nothing, I didn't check the box and all the apps were installed, I don't need Garage Band, IMOVIE or IDVD etc, has anyone come across this and a solution for it, maybe not insert the applications DVD to save the additional disk space?

Hmmmm....

I just did a clean install of the new MBA yesterday. I unchecked the languages, printer drivers and fonts - and MAKE SURE YOU TELL IT TO ERASE THE SSD FIRST.

If you don't it will keep all the iLife programs that were installed in the factory.

Then upon completion you WILL NOT have any extras on there - and theonly way to get them on is to insert the 2nd DVD.

I did this yesterday. Follow the instruction for the first generation. Boot from the install cd, repartition your HDD, and remove what you don't need from disc 1. I took off a ton of printer drivers. After that is done installing wait for the reboot and setup your MBA like it is new. Then insert disc 2 and do the optional install. Their you can check off iDVD, iWeb, Garageband, iMovie all that stuff you don't want. When I was done I had 100GB of free space.

The important thing is to boot from the install CD so you can run disk utility and repartition the HDD. Otherwise you can not prevent apps from being installed.
