Permanent glossy screen?

I'm thinking about getting a new iMac for graphic design, illustration, bit of photography and general arty stuff, but like everyone else I'm a bit skeptical about the glossy screen. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get one sooner or later, but I'd hate to buy it then 3 months down the line have Apple release a matt screen version.

Firstly, do you think this is likely, and if so how long would it be before they releaed it? And secondly, are the new iMacs suitable for the kind of work I want to be doing on them? I would be using the Adobe CS3 design premium package, with Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver etc.

If you do a search, there are numerous posts and threads in general that answer these very questions...

No one outside of Apple and their suppliers can answer this question definitively.

I think it's quite likely that a third party solution will be out shortly, however.

The glossy screen is because of the glass plate in front of the screen, right? Can't you remove the glass plate to get rid off the gloss?
I don't know how your iMac would look like and I don't know if it would fall apart, but you won't have a glossy screen then.
So this would be the "first party sollution"

Or you could sandblast it into a matte screen.
