Hello,

Anyone knows how to permanently remove Cookies in Safari? Every time I press remove all (in options), the cookie files instantly reappear... What's the use of this button if the files reappear in less than 2 min even if you do not reload any websites?

So far I've discovered that I have to disable the cache from the developer menu, then delete it, and finally I can try removing the cookies again (but still some will reappear), so I have to complete this process by reseting Safari (and then maybe remove the cookies again).

It's a real pain that Safari doesn't properly remove cookies. Does anyone know any other way? Or if it can be done manually (deleting them from a folder or something).

Cheers,

PS: It's also really annoying how iCloud instantly reloads all the filthy cookies as soon as you add your account to a new mac.

Safari's Top Sites feature reloads websites, and in the process gives you the cookies from them. This could be what's causing cookies to quickly jump back into your folder.

Also, you'd be surprised how much crap one website can dump into your cookies folder. I just emptied my cookies about 20 minutes ago and I already have 70 websites apparently storing cookies on my computer.

The few times I have removed all cookies, I made sure no Safari windows were open before going into preferences.

Also, iCloud doesn't store or copy over any cookies. I'm not sure what gave you that idea. I actually wish that it did, so I wouldn't have to re-logon to various websites between my iPhone and Mac.

Whenever you delete a cookie you do delete this particular cookie permanently. It just does not help because web site are setting new cookies as soon as you visit them.

If you want you can - in the Safari preferences - block any cookie from being set. But that would mean that you would have problems with many web sites because their usability often depends on cookies.

What I do is using Firefox instead of Safari as my main browser. Firefox can be configured in a way that it allows pretty much everything while browsing and then deletes everything automatically on quitting it.
