Hi all,
I finally saved up to purchase a new iMac after being with the 2012 Mac mini for years. What a nightmare it's been. I bought the 27inch iMac with the 4.2 i7 and ssd drive. Not even a month into ownership my sad failed and was set back a week on all my work while they replaced it. Then after working with my iMac for about 2 weeks all of a sudden my permissions were messed up. I couldn't write to my external hard drive, my Lightroom catalogs couldn't be opened because the file is not writable and so on. I spent a solid 3 hours and several phone calls with apple as well as some trouble shooting of my own, but after they couldn't figure it out they told me it's adobes problem and I should call them even after I told them repeatedly it's not just with adobe Lightroom its other programs as well. Horrible service to just pass the problem on to someone else.
I tried changing permissions on the main folder then applying to enclosed folders and that didn't take, I tried changing permissions via: Go-Home-Get info-Having sharing and permissions all checked off to red and write-then apply to all enclosed items. That didnt work.
I plugged the external hard drive into my MacBook Pro and all the permission problems were gone, so it's not the hard drive. I'm not using any new software or hardware.
Specs, new iMac, external hard drive is wd my book. I use super duper to clone/backup that hard drive to another hard drive which also has the problems. I've been using super duper for years now and there haven't been any updates to that software.
Adobe said it was a problem with the operating system, so I should call apple, apple won't/can't help. Maybe you guys can help me out?
Thanks all!
