Hello to you all. The problem is known. YouTube videos play at accelerated speed so they become unwatchable. Do reboots again and again. But now thew problem affects all other macOS video and audio playback functions. Really fed up to reboot 2 - 3 times a day. Did all Google search says but problem is persistent. Should I wipe out everything and reinstall Catalina. My iMac can't run higher versions of OS.
Thanks million times

When this happens in youtube what is your youtube speed setting?

I tried everything trust me. The issue is known on the Web and the forums. I didn't have it before Catalina. Maybe I'll revert to or reinstall Catalina. Some say to quit operations in Activity Monitor, others like me keep on rebooting. As soon as the bug appears better reboot immediately. Sad no one has found a viable solution. I'll deal with it. Probably a YT issue affecting all the OS.

I've seen stuff mentioning that it might be coreaudio related.

Does stopping or restarting coreaudio via Terminal get things back to normal…even if only temporarily?

No not at all. I tried this trick too. Believe me I tried it all. Maybe the installation of Catalina was not done properly. Dunno? I'll do a Christmas cleanup soon.
