Hey,

I need some help and advice about personal domain names and making them work with .Mac.

In iWeb (v1.1.2) I have created a Digital Portfolio, and then I have a writing site which I'm going to launch in the summer when I have plenty of time to redesign it - that site has four other created sites linked it to.

Anyway, on my CV I want to put a webaddress, but I'm not wanting the .Mac http://web.mac.com/username/iweb/sitename. I want something like: www.sitename.co.uk. However, I want one address for my Digital Portfolio, and then another later for my Writing Site (www.writingsitename.co.uk).

Can this be done?

I've started looking for domain names, and www.123-reg.co.uk and www.ukreg.com seem to have the best prices. Anyone used them? Or suggest something else?

Thanks for any help, information and advice.

You can change the cname only for one domain name and the second site will have to be forwarded from your registry site. Forwarding and Masking is nice but not for search engine. I would change the cname with the prof site and keep the forwarding for the personal site.:)

Thanks for the information...

Now how is that done? Is this something needing done is iWeb? (i have version 1.1.2 - don't know if that helps).

Thanks again for any advice.

Sorry for bumping my own thread, but I still need some help with this.

I finally finished my Digital Portfolio site and launched it to my .Mac Account.
I bought the domain name I want for it from 123-reg.co.uk: www.jmccrae-portfolio.com

Now I need to know how to do the CNAME thing... (as I'll get my other writing site to forwarding/masking later when its launched)... HOWEVER The more I read, it keeps referring to iWeb '08.

The thing is I don't have iWeb 08 - the version I'm using is 1.1.2 which I think is iWeb '06

I just don't know what or where to go for help, its all confusing.
