I spent some time screwing around with mobile me and swear I got a personal domain name associated with my account (I think I found some dns servers I was able to point too via my registrar) but reversed it and my trial expired.

What I eventually want to do is switch my personal domain over to my iCloud account, so on top of logging in with my email address, I can use my personal email address (vs. the me.com)

I realize its just out in beta but am wondering if anyone thinks this will be possible, or if iCloud is going to be for me.com email only.

In this case I'll look to Google and Dropbox to handle my cloud requirements and continue to look for value in iCloud. (maybe backing up my iDevices and storing movies)

Indeed!

Luckily, we can still use iWeb to publish to non-Apple hosts.

Uncle Steve has lost interest in personal websites. But, even if he has....there are a number of us who haven't. It's a pity that, in Uncle Steves' rush to get on the Cloud bandwagon, he can't be bothered to keep iWeb updated.

yep, leaves a hole in the whole digital sharing, where we have to rely on 3rd party.

I will move my site, it is a shame I will not be able to publish my photos to that site though my iOS.

I do not want a site with advertisement, so no flickr or photobucket.
