Hello,

I upgraded by Late 2013 rMBP with Yosemite.

First problem: I do not see my iPhone 6 Plus or my iPad Air (Cellular) in the Wi-Fi menu as Personal Hotspots on my rMBP. However, my iPhone and my iPad see eachother without any special configuration.

Second problem: How to make AirDrop work between my own devices? Do they have to be on the same Wi-Fi network?

Thanks for your help! :)

First problem: I think you need to subscribe to the hotspot data plan from your carrier before it's enabled on your phone.

Second problem: They don't have to be on the same network. Bluetooth and wifi both have to be on and then it should just work. Make sure Bluetooth is on.

Yes airdrop and personal hotspot between Mac and iOSs still has some bugs. Sometimes I can't see my iPhone appears on the airdrop or hotspot

My carrier allows hotspots (I live in Belgium where all providers allow that). It just works from my iPhone (iPad thetering) or my iPad (iPhone thetering). I know it may be a bit strange since both have 3G/LTE but it was just a test.
Yosemite doesn't see any of my iDevices.

Bluetooth is turned on on all devices. Should they be paired to eachother?

pairing was required pre-handoff/continuity
it's not needed for the handshaking the devices do for continuity, hotspot or AirDrop.

Is it working for you? Does it need iOS 8.1 or shoud it work with 8.0.2?

In my case Personal Hotspot only works as a normal hotspot would with the exception that it shows the iPhone's cellular network status. Personal Hotspot should start working as it is intended to with the advent of iOS 8.1.

AirDrop doesn't work between my iPhone 6 plus and rMBP at all, so I figure it should work on iOS 8.1.
