I've been having an issue lately making calls with my iPhone 14 pro in my pocket, Airpods Pro 2 in my ears, and asking Siri to initiate the call. (I also have an Apple watch on my wrist recording an Outdoor Walk workout, probably not pertinent to the issue, but mentioned for completeness)

For some reason, the touchscreen on the phone, nestled in my pocket, becomes active and starts registering random touchtone noises as I walk and try to talk on the phone.

The first time it happened, I thought I must have accidently put the phone in my pocket with the screen still active, but it has happened enough times now that I'm certain that isn't the issue.

Any idea why this is suddenly happening, and what I can do to prevent it?

How is the phone waking up in the pocket? 🤔 if it's locked, this shouldn't be an issue at all. Do you not have a passcode, possibly?

I have a passcode though always use face ID to unlock the phone. Before I make the call, the phone is in my pocket and locked. I've don't have an issue with butt dials or apps being launched while the phone is in my pocket; this only happens while on a call on my Airpods.

Hmm. iPhone will unlock Apple Watch but the watch won't unlock the phone, so that shouldn't impact it.

The difficulty with isolating the issue is preventing Face ID from becoming a factor during testing. It's vitally important to prevent the camera from seeing your face while isolating, otherwise it'll lead you down the wrong path. With that in mind, you'll want to remove the phone from your pocket and see what, exactly, is on screen when this is occurring?
