In previos version of iOS I had Facetime Audio for my contacts in the Favorites section. Now, it doesn't seem possible anymore, as whenever I call them Facetime Video starts automatically. Even when I add someone to the Favorites section now, there is no option to set it to Audio only.

Is this really true or am I missing something? I just want to make calls, not start a video conference....

Press plus to add new contact to favourites. Select the contact from your list. Then select call then FaceTime. Now when you press that contact in the favourite list it will do a FaceTime audio call. You're probably selecting the FaceTime option right? I noticed if you do that it's video only. So it's call->FaceTime to add it how you want. Bit unintuitive, have to admit.

When I'm in the Favorites section in Phone.app and click + then click on a contact, there is a pop up window where I have to choose between SMS/call/FaceTime video/email. Am I misunderstanding you?

Even when I force touch a random contact in the contact list, the same popup window appears. It's almost like they're slowly silently killing the FaceTime Audio option.

Thanks for the solution. Haha that makes no sense that Facetime Audio is under "Call" and not "Facetime".

well "facetime audio" itself makes no sense...

I've got so used to saying it I don't even realise how stupid it sounds anymore. Can I just FaceTime audio you ? Other end... I can't see the video, me... yes that's because it's an audio call, them... but you said FaceTime.... never mind, how are you ?

I actualy love FaceTime audio. in my area, VoLTE is not available so FT Audio is great for high quality calls.

I dont like video calling with a phone, so, FT audio is my way to go.
