On my iPhone X when I pick up an incoming call, the screen goes black when I’m talking on th call. Even if I tap the screen or press the power button, nothing happens. It goes back to normal after the person ends the call. I’m running iOS 11.1.2

There’s a proximity sensor next to the earpiece that automatically locks the display on phone calls so you don’t accidentally press anything with your ear against the screen. You might be blocking it depending on how you hold it

Do you have a full edge to edge glass screen protector by any chance? These can sometimes interfere with the sensors especially when making calls

Oh, yes I do. It covers the sensors too! Makes sense. Thanks!

Let us know if you removed the screen protector and if that solved the issue.
That's what was my problem- I was using a Orzly screen protector. Problem solved as soon as it was removed. Too bad, it was a decent screen protector otherwise.
I had this exact same problem on my iPhone 7 last year with one of these edge to edge protectors.

I haven't removed the protector, but when I tap the sensor a couple times with my finger, it usually works, so that my current technique. I'm looking for another protector so i can replace the current one I have
