I just used Pwnage to update my 3g iphone from 2.2 firmware with 2.28 baseband. I think it is jailbroken but the telephone part doesn't work.

In the settings it shows I have 3.1 firmware and still 2.28 baseband. The Cydia is shown on the home page where the icons are so I think it is jailbroken. The email and safari works.

The telephone does not work. In the phone settings "My number" is listed as unknown. I see only one bar for signal but there should be 4 here. I don't see ATT in the upper left corner. The telephone will not dial or receive. My contacts are still here.

My notes are still here, my iphotos have disappeared but who cares, my old email has disappeared but no big deal. Most of the apps are gone (they were all free) but a few of them are still there.

Please help me get the phone running. The other problems I can live with.

David

If you really are on 2.2 the upgrade to 3.0 and jailbreak. Stay away from 3.1. To many bugs! If Cydia is there then yes you are jailbroken!

Look... A bunch seems to of went wrong with your jailbreak.... So when you restore iphone first!! in iTunes it says "restore from new, or restore from back up"
You need to restore your iphone... and restore as new phone!!!!!!!!!! NOT from a backup! You will lose all data, but you will be good to go. Just save contacts on computer b4 you restore and your good. Then after restore run latest version of Pwnage tool and you WILL be fine.

I belive since you restored from back up, something iss conflicting your service from activating and or working properly, so your best bet is to give up 20 minutes of your life and restore and re jailbreak as I said!

save contacts?

how do I save the contacts b4 restoring as a new phone?

Thatll do for saving contacts, Address Book for mac computers! To save notes, safari bookmarks, and some other things, you need to SSH into your iphone and save them to your computer.

got it to work again. Thanks

It took two restores before it worked. For some reason the first restore to new phone ended with an error message. So I restored it again and now it works.

Not sure if I should try again to Jail break.
