I know that the most recent beta of iOS 6 allows you to use your phone number as your iMessage address. Is this available in mountain lion? I haven't been able to find it. Thanks!

I used it before with the beta and it showed two different addresses in the history. To get it to work correctly for myself I would use my apple id but on my iPhone I went into imessage and had both my cell# & apple id for the receive at location. For caller ID I use my cell number so it looks like a regular imessage on the receiver's end. I can pick it up from my MBP and then use the cell and they can't tell the difference and all the messages come up on both.

Wait how do you do this? I can't find it under settings. I had this problem when I used the beta, people were receiving my iMessage from my mac and it would show up on their phone as being sent from my apple id and not my phone number. This was very confusing for some who did not have my apple id added to their contacts and they wouldnt be able to tell who had sent them the message.

Go to settings on your iPhone and open iMessage. Scroll down and you will see receive at and click that open and choose your cell number. It will be under caller id...

What I meant was, how did you set your caller id to show your phone number when you imessage someone else from your mac?

Edit: I already had my settings the same as yours. However, when I text from my iPhone to another iPhone it will show on the caller id as my number which is fine because the people I text have my number saved to their phone and can therefore identify me, but when I pick up the conversation on my MBA on Messages.app and choose the phone number for the recipient it will still send messages the same as before only it now shows my apple id as the caller id on their phone (which now has to be saved to my info in their contacts).
