Phone number in iMessage workaround for iOS5

Is there any way to be able to message from 10.8.2 using a phone number without upgrading to iOS6? I can't use my iPhone without jailbreak, just miss too many features.

So, any ideas/solutions can be posted here.

Would it be possible to activate your phone number on a phone with iOS 6 temporarily, get it working on 10.8.2, and then switch your phone number back to your original iPhone on on iOS 5?
