G'day all, I have developed a bug which means I need to shut down, not reboot, my iPhone 6 (11.2.2) before it will display the lightning strike and start recharging. When the phone is restarted charging continues until I remove the Lightning Cable. If I then reconnect the Lightning Cable with the phone powered up charging does not resume until I again power the phone down.

I saw this issue once on my iPhone 7+ running 11.2.2. After I restarted the phone it went away and hasnt come back.

Thank you for replying Armen. I am afraid my 'bug" is persisting. At least we have warned others that might read this. I was on the verge of scrapping my phone.

What exactly are you warning people of though?

Try a complete powering down and restart not just reboot if phone stops charging ... the phone apparently needs to begin charging when completely powered down.

My phone is currently switched on and is 82% charged. I attach the Lightning Cable and the screen activates but charging does not start. If I now power the phone down by long holding the Start Button, wait for a few minutes then restart the phone it is recharging and will continue to charge until I remove the Lightning Cable.

“Complete power down and restart not just a reboot”.

What’s the difference?

Try resetting all settings or maybe restoring the phone. It's definitely a bug but it seems like it may not be impacting many people since you and I are the only ones to have experienced it.

Thank you again, Armen. I have only been using an iPhone for about three weeks but I think there is a different sequence when I just press/hold the Start Button and when I press/hold both the Home and Start buttons. Certainly the later does not bypass the "bug".

I should also mention that when the phone is active and I plug in the Lightning Cable I sometimes get "This accessory may not be supported - Dismiss"

1. Where are you connecting the lightning cable to? Many cheap chargers/powerbanks/laptop USB ports don't provide enough/stable enough current. Although I haven't noticed it on iPhones, the not-charging issue is common on iPads as those require higher current. Try using the original charger.
2. It's an iPhone 6. Have you replaced its battery with Apple yet?

Great information, many thanks. I will upgrade the charger. The iPhone 6 is a recon with limited warranty. The great grand kids purchased as a present so that I can "get up to speed" with them. I have owned a Mobile Phone for about 20 years but am enjoying the Apple despite the "bug".

I shall also try and source a new battery.

It sounds like iOS doesn't support your charger and blocks it from charging, while it's powered off it can't do that. Try another (preferably official) charger.

I have done a quick survey of family and friends and found one other case of this "bug" and she has also upgraded from iOS 11.2.1 to 1.2.2 Is there anyway we can roll the iOS back? Thanks
[doublepost=1516169318][/doublepost]I managed to find a download for iPhone 6 iOS11.2.1 Downloading now and will then try and install
