Let me explain. I looked up a local cleaners online. Called them from my iPhone, and also used Maps to navigate directions to them. Dropped off my dry cleaning.

Next day I looked up their number online. Called them from my iPhone. When I dialed the full number I noticed now, in the dialer, it showed me the name of the cleaners beneath the number as if the number was saved in my Contacts. After I called, it now showed the name of the cleaners instead of just the number in my Recents list yet I have not saved them to my Contacts. When I tap the 'info' circle it shows the Maps business info sheet.

I'm assuming it's pulling this info from Maps since I navigated directions to them a day earlier…

Does anyone know what this feature is called? And how this works? It's pretty cool!

iOS 9 added a new feature where it can look through your mail for unknown numbers to match them up with contacts.

Have they sent you any emails?

I've had this come up before, and I believe it's basically through Maps/Yelp integration.

They being those that you see with names coming up who aren't in your contacts. That feature is just called something about contacts from emails. Although it doesn't quite seem like the one that is in question here.

Ahh! I completely misunderstood that post lol. In that case no, they've never emailed me. (I was thinking, why would Apple email me about the feature? lol smh)

However, yes that is a different thing from the thing in question here. Although it seems they are both different facets of the Siri Proactive feature. Like always I really wish Apple would create a more detailed guide about this stuff so we can better understand and use it!

Just to be clear for everyone, there is one feature where iOS will pull Contacts/Events found in your connected Mail and add them to Contacts/Calendar. (I have yet to see any events added on mine.) But this is a different feature where iOS seems to show your recently navigated location POI (point of interest) as a Contact name instead of just another number in the Phone app' Recents list when you dial them after you have navigated to that destination. It doesn't seem to show the name when you straight dial the location POI from the Maps app without navigating first. However the name seems to have gone away now after a few days because it only shows the number in the Recents list now.

Err… I'm really not sure how this feature works hence why I'm asking for clarity from you guys here.

P.S.: It's definitely a different thing from the Contacts/Events in Mail feature. However they both are probably a part of Siri Proactive.
