I wanted to update my phone (4s) from 6.1 to 6.1.2. It was originally jailbroken with Evasion. I restored the phone and applied the update. I then downloaded the most current version of Evasion and jailbroke it. Now, the phone fails to activate, Evasion keeps giving me a "Lockdown error (12)" and itunes won't recognize my phone. I honestly have no idea what to do at this point. Can anyone help? I'm starting to freak a little. Nothing is working.

Every time I connect it to my computer, itunes fails to recognize the device. i literally have no way of restoring it. I can't even bypass the activation screen on the phone to restore it manually.

Put it in DFU Mode then restore it.

Thank god that worked. This is just my first time running into problems with the device. It's restoring now to factory. Hopefully it'll reactivate.

Should I dare try to jailbreak it again to 6.1.2 using Evasion?? I'm def in way over my head, but jailbreaking offered me so many more useful options.

Did you do anything else? Did you have a SIM in there?

Use another computer.

It's on Verizon. So i don't believe so. The phone jailbroke perfectly when Evasion first came out though for 6.1. May attempt it on my mac this time instead of my pc.

Awesome! Me personally, I like to restore the firmware and set up as new, make sure its activated, then set up my iCloud account but not my email, then I jailbreak. Then I open Cydia and create the file system and once everything is all set, then I set up my email account. Next I take my time and install my tweaks one by one and spread that out over several days just to make sure everything is ok. My last step, since its always open ended and ongoing, I restore my game saves as I install games that I feel like playing. I use AppBackup for this although it can be done manually. I just find AppBackup extremely reliable and much easier and faster than doing it manually. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Everything worked perfectly up until I activated Cydia and downloaded OpenBackup. once I tried restoring my apps via OpenBackup, the device restarted and wouldn't activate. Then all my problems started. I'm wondering if OpenBackup is to blame? It's just going to take me forever to customize my settings for intelliscreen, activator, etc again if I take the manual route.

But again, thank you so much for the help! I had no idea a safe mode even existed for an iPhone. Waayyy to use to Moto Droid devices and bootstraps. haha

Don't use openbackup again. Something is wrong with one of the packages or the process itself of using open backup. You will just have to install manually all your tweaks.

I've read other reports of openBackup causing issues. I don't use it so I have noting to say on it. I'm sure it works for a lot of people too. I've never had great success with automated backups. Plus doing it manually I feel that the phone runs better and the battery life is a little better too. But others might suggest different. It's all about trial and error and finding what works for you!

Perfect! Thanks for all the help. Hopefully this doesn't happen again. haha, back to jailbreaking!!
