Phone won't hang up

Ok, this is a wierd problem. Sometimes, after a call, especially if I am using the headphones, I'll press the end button and a couple of seconds later the home screen displays the "return to call" graphic at the top. If I try to tap that, it takes a while to come back up and the phone ends up freezing. Why is this happening?

try a reset (hold the hold button and the home button until the phone restarts)

if that doesn't work, sync then restore your phone via itunes.

not if you sync your phone with iTunes first.

syncing will back up contacts, i don't believe the photos will be backed up tho.

someone correct me if i'm wrong but i'm fairly certain. i'd back them up anyway just incase if they're of any value to you.

contacts no question, they'll still be there.

i just got my iphone replaced ... syncd it up to my computer and everything (notes, SMSs, pictures I took) syncd back over ....
