I use iTunes to sync my phone, I do not use the cloud for photos or anything but Find my Phone. I have my iTunes set to sync photos with one folder on my laptop (iPhone photos) and see all of those folders/albums on my phone. The album/folder label is right and the photos in each album/folder match.

However I am noticing that it also seems to be picking up folders/albums from another folder on my laptop (iPad photos). Note that this is not a folder within the previously mentioned iPhone photos folder. Complete separate folder. Double checked this already. And when I look at the photos on my phone, it shows those folder/album labels, with completely random photos within each. So an album marked Family has random life photos in it.

Completely strange - any idea what's happening? When I get home I'll remove the iPad photos folder and sync again and see what happens, but I find it very weird.

It's some kind of bug. I have albums showing up from things I log ago deleted. I deleted my trash folder and now they seem to be gone. Weird.

Every now and then my Photos app starts duplicating my folders and randomly allocating photos between them. Usually copies of photos from other folders. Like you I only use iTunes to sync photos. It seems to happen sometimes, but not always, after OS updates. Haven't found a way to stop it happening, but if I remove all photos from the phone (unchecking them in the sync options) then re-add them the same way it goes back to normal. A minor inconvenience once every month or two.

Thanks, if removing the offending folder and resyncing doesn't work, then I'll try removing them from the phone and then resyncing again. A bit more than a minor inconvenience for me since I keep over 10,000 photos on my phone and it takes a long time to add them, but it would be nice to get it cleaned up.

I'd love to know where it's getting these extra folders. As I said before, I don't use the cloud for photos. Just now I updated the iOS on my Phone. I didn't sync or anything, did an over the air upgrade. Earlier this morning, all was right with my folders. Now after the upgrade, the extra folders are there again. Where are they coming from?
