Hi,

I installed the public beta Photo App for Mac and uploaded my whole library into icloud (about 90 GB). I have got around 3000 photos on my iphone and when i switched icloud photo library on my iphone on, it startet to upload ALL photos from my iphone to the cloud, although all of them where already on my mac and synced. Now i have lots of duplicates.

- Should the photos app work like this or should it automatically check if photos are already in the library?

- Is there any way to show duplicates easily in the photos app?

- I have got a second mac with a nearly identical library: will it also duplicate the photos when i switch the icloud sync on?

Thanks for your help...

Thanks

Did you sync those 3000 photos onto your phone through iTunes on your Mac, or are they in your camera roll? If they're still in your camera roll on the phone, is it because you didn't delete them after you previously imported them into iPhoto or are they copies?

If the ones in the camera roll are manual copies, I would guess that's the expected behaviour because copies will have a different filename to the originals. If you didn't delete them from your camera roll or they were sync from your Mac, I would guess it's a bug.

Remember, the correct workflow before iCloud Photo Library came along is to import camera roll photos into iPhoto, delete them from your device, and then sync back the ones you want back to the device.

The only way to know about your second Mac is to try it and see. It's still in beta, so I hope you did make backups of your original libraries before you did all this...
