Hi,

As with iOS also under macOS I seem to have some troubles regarding the Photo curation. It seems to be stuck at around 25% for quite some time now. Is it the same for you?

Many greets
Chris

Edit: Also, am I supposed to keep the app minimized or should I close it and the curation will finish in the background?

Hi, just leave it and work on something else. Mine took hours before it finished. Might want to check if you have any iphotos library files in your pictures directory. During the curation your pics in the iPhoto library were migrated to the Photos library. Should be able to delete iPhoto library if you have space concerns.

Okay, let’s see how it goes ?

Can I also leave the Mac in sleep mode overnight or does it have to be completely on?

I just left mine on and it went to sleep, when I checked later, much later it was done. I think it depends on the size of photo library and how fast/slow your computer is. Good Luck!

Just finished for me. I minimized the app, closed my MacBook and when I came back later I still had the loading bar but then it finished in about 30 seconds.

I seldom use the Photos app on my Mac but also ran into an issue where it appeared to be stuck processing my photos. Since I seldom use the app anyway, I wound up disabling iCloud Photos and deleting the Photos library file. I only discovered it because it was causing my iMac to run very warm (it was persistently maxing out a CPU core) and the fan was kicking on while doing mundane tasks. If you don’t use the Photos app on your Mac, it’s certainly a solution.
