Does this process ever finish for people? I have about 6000 photos and 500 videos and it’s been doing this for days. The progress bar has not moved at all.

It took over a week for mine to finish. You might try rebooting your phone before you leave it on the charger overnight, in case the process is stuck for some reason.

Make sure you enter your passcode at least once after the reboot to unlock the data partition.

Mine is still curating 1 month later. also the faces folder is still scanning 1 month later. i think there is a bug in the software. IOS 13 has been a terrible release.

60,000 photos and videos here. Took about 1.5 weeks of leaving it on the charger when I go to sleep.

Despite that finishing, it didn't finish the faces. Found that out a few days ago. Opened up all the people and a few days later that was done.

Do you have your photos on iCloud or they are stored on your device?

They're in iCloud but downloaded all to my device. (98GB). So I don't have optimized storage turned on (download originals turned on).

Thank you!! I think the problem is that when optimized storage is turned on the faces recognition process is terribly slow as the phone needs to download the photo, analyze it and delete it. I found no way to boost this process. The only thing that I found is that the process stuck sometimes and a reboot is required for more photos to be analyzed.

After I updated to 13.2 I noticed that under messages threads, you know when you click the little "I" on a contact and it brings up where it shows you all the photos/attachments sent in the thread? Anyways none of the photos are showing up and its says "More photos will be shown once Messages finishes indexing". This has been going on for a good week now. So I called support and they told me that once the photos app finishes its curation that the photos should show up in the threads and the "processes go hand and hand with each other" and that this is "intended behavior" and basically that I need to just wait it out.... But to me it feels stuck and glitched out.. I guess I'll just keep on waiting?.. It just seems like a huge step backwards that I need to wait weeks to have functionality that I had out of the gate with iOS 12 that didn't require weeks of waiting to show my darn photos within an iMessage thread!! All of my photos are locally on the phone. Never have used messages in the cloud or photos in the cloud at all.
