I know people have fairly divided opinions on selective color, and that it's a bit cliché with white tigers, but I just couldn't help myself.

Been messing around in Lightroom to see if I can achieve a film like look.

I'm relatively happy with with the effort below. Think I'm going to splash out on a VSCO film pack at the end of the month. Has anyone here who has any other of the packs tried pack 05 that can offer some experience?

Here's Mrs MacRy looking as gorgeous as ever.

Don't use LR so can't help, sorry, but a lovely picture of a lovely lady!

Noted!

Moreover, I am logically guesstimating fill light with a reflector

You can guess that but it wouldn’t be right!

I have 01, 02, 04 & 05. Anything you want to know in particular?

At the moment I actually find that 04 is my favourite as I am in a ‘popping colours’ mood.

Wow are you just the guy to ask then :)

Just general thoughts on them really and what you consider to be the best pack and why. Any info would be great thanks.

My nature/plant/wildlife entry from the Sigma contest. Again, this is a JPG straight off the camera. The only post work is the size and added watermark.

This was shot with the Sigma 85mm macro lens at f1.4. I absolutely love the depth of field in this image.

I don't mind a selective colour or a big cat so win win for me!

Thanks ish :) She's the best lady in the world.

I'm sorry but she's not. That would be my lovely lady.

Love the lighting in this one. Very nice.

Absolutely beautiful MCH-1138...you nailed it! Great colours, lighting and framing.

Normally, I would suggest that a subject in motion is best captured moving into the frame instead of out of the frame but this works really well with the light source included and the backlit wings.

The blacksmiths from last weekend.Image20140405-_DSC1355 by apple fanboy1, on Flickr. Comments always welcome.

nice deep perspective, though not sure if slightly off axis was intentionally or not.
also you got some glaring/flaring on the light. I for one like them, others do not. blacks look nice. maybe you should try half-kneeling or full kneeling, it will change the perspective of 1st person pov

Perspective is something I have to work on. I think I always shoot from my normal standing up position.

photography is always subjective

what makes a photograph interesting, or even magnificent, doesn't necessarily have to abide to any set of rules. so you can elect to absolutely ignore my notes on your pic.

perspective differentiation though, can actually open up creative neurone pathways in your brain, that I promise you :D

I do use them all quite often. It’s the ‘in’ look and quite often people think I’ve done wonders when all I have done is applied the preset and applied a little selective retouching.

If you are keen, PM a link to a raw you have taken and I will apply a few different presets so you can get an idea of what they might do as I tend to go through phases of enjoying different ones at different times.

Rydal Mount, William Wordsworth's last home. And the woman (though I wasn't aware when I took the shot) is the poet's great, great, great grand-daughter...

Lovely photo there. Even more interesting knowing who the lady is. At first glance, I thought maybe she was coming down the path to chase a pesky photographer away LOL

EDIT: My plug-in to turn the link into a thumbnail seems to have stopped working.
