Welcome to Photo of the Day. The POTD thread was started by iGary in May, 2006 and converted to a monthly thread in November 2007 by Arn. POTD is one of the most popular picture groups on MacRumors, often exceeding 500 posts and 20,000 views per month.

Photo of the Day is intended to be a showcase for your best pictures. There is no limit to your gear, just your imagination. P&S and film cameras are welcome along with DSLRs. There are no themes like the Weekly Contest, and no winners (or losers) either.

Policies

*One Photo per Day
- Don't post more than one photo each day.

*Multi-Quote - To comment on several photos, click the "+ (Multi-Quote) button. This puts all your comments in one post. Multi-Quoting is required on all of the MacRumors forums.

*SFW (Safe for Work) only - This is a site - wide rule. If you wouldn't show it in a public place, then it's NSFW (not safe for work). Think before you post.

*Describe your photo - Tell what it is and where you took it. If you know the EXIF data of a photo, include it. The following EXIF fields are recommended: Camera, ISO, Focal Length, Shutter/Aperture and Lens.

Note: Anyone may start the Photo of the Day thread on the first of the month GMT. Please copy a quote of this post to maintain all the formatting.

Did you attach a GoPro to the wing?
Not certain what they used on the wing as was stills only with no video clips from there and it was far better resolution than the video camera mounted on the tail which you can see was not a go pro box back there. Also the cockpit camera was video (avatar is a screen capture) and I didn't even know it was there. This flight was a Christmas gift wife gave me several years ago. Sad it was an overcast day. The plane is a T-6 Texan, an advanced trainer used from WWII to the 1970s.

While cruising speed is 145mph, and max 210mph, we took it up to 170mph as as we did a barrel roll. Tempted to do a screen capture during the roll with the horizon on top but 1) too overcast, and 2) that camera needed to be cleaned due to a lot of bugs and water droplets. Another potential video frame capture is takeoff - both planes took off on the same runway simultaneously and I was the rear plane with a great view of the other plane a few feet above the runway.

Since I had some pilot training decades earlier (and not current) he turned the controls over to me to get the feel of the craft. simple maneuvers and bringing to a stall/recovery - but not the barrel roll as he manned the controls, and even asked my permission before doing one. That engine was far more powerful than the basic Cessna and Pipers I had flown, and the stick is far more responsive than a yoke.

Tanagra (not really)
i'm jealous you are seeing so many butterflies already! I started zinnias and dahlias from seed this year that I have to plant still.

Although my daughter saw a monarch in the woods the other day that our puppy tried to eat. ?
We’ve seen a few monarchs already. I’m not sure what they are feeding on, as we had a yoyo April—hot one day, cold to freezing the next. Must be the tree flowers? We put down our pollinator seeds last week, but they haven’t even germinated yet. Zinnia, aster, cosmos, and some columbine for the hummingbirds. My coneflowers are coming back up from last year.

Oh yes I have some cosmos also. I hope to plant them next week, they are getting awfully leggy in their seedling state, but I have put them outside now to get used to the weather.
