Photo, Phone, and backups.

I want to make sure this is correct. Once I back up my iphone to photos, I can delete the pic/vid from the phone and not have it deleted from photos. Do I understand that correctly?

What happens to the photo on iCloud if deleted from phone?

Hi!

It depends:

If you use iCloud Photo Library all your images syncs across devices. So if you take images on your iPhone they will also appear on your mac and vice verca. If you delete an image on any device they will be deleted from all other devices as well. You will however be able to retrieve it from the "iCloud trash" for about a month before it´s lost.

If you dont use iCloud Photo library you have to import the images from the iPhone to the mac. After import the images are not synced so any images you delete will only affect the device you delete them from.
