Hi all,

Looking for some advice. I’d like to share my entire photo library with my wife. Both Apple users, both with iCloud Photo Library.

I‘ve tried the Shared Albums feature in the Photos app, both on Mac and on iOS. It’s never worked for me. Either the invitation is never sent or, it’s sent but the photos I add to a shared album don’t show up. Or some do while others don’t. It seems very random. Tried this multiple times and it’s frustrating. So I’m wondering if there is a simple thing I’m doing wrong, or if there are easier / better alternatives out there. I thought that some of the digital photography experts here may be able to offer some advice or opinions. Happy to hear them if so, thanks.

I don’t believe you’re doing anything wrong regarding Shared Albums. I stopped using them years ago. Invitations never show up or show up days later when the context of the new images is lost. The other issue I had with it is sort is latest upload first. Not latest capture date, not by name (where sort could be controlled by the user). Trying to tell a story with Shared Albums is futile.

Since I use Lightroom I now use it for sharing. It started out Adobe stupid - no access without an account. But they quickly opened it up to anyone. Coupled with an excellent, and simple to use, site builder (Portfolio - data does not count against my 20 GB plan) and surprisingly small file sizes given the IQ, excellent feedback from family and friends, I’m delighted.

Unless you’re an Adobe user, makes no sense. If you are, I’d jump on it.

Thanks I'll go explore Lightroom.

On the Apple Photos app, I'm less worried about the sorting of photos on Shared Albums, I'd just like them to, you know, actually share photos ?
