Photo stream confusion

Ok I have my iPhone connected to iCloud with photo stream on and I've taken a ton of pictures. I've also deleted a lot of them and I don't want them back. They're just bad pictures. But they pop up in a folder labeled photo stream. What can I do to stop this. I use photo stream but it's irritating because I don't know how to get a picture deleted from it.

Once a photo is uploaded into photo stream it cannot be deleted. This is the #1 complaint with photo stream.

You have 2 choices depending if you are taking pictures with an active wifi connection.

If on wifi, turn photo stream off > take pictures > delete the photos you don't want from camera roll > turn photo stream back on.

If not on a wifi connection, take photos > delete unwanted pics from camera roll (prior to attaining a wifi connection).

Photo Stream is not meant to be an Album or Event that you actively manage. Instead, it is a storage bin of the last 1,000 photos you've taken so you can choose what you want to import without needing a wired connection to your other devices.

To me, Photo Stream is a great innovative solution, so I can manage my photos across my iMac, MBP, and iPad. I choose which photos from photo stream I want to import.

If you don't think of it as an actual album of great photos, but rather an undeveloped roll of film, you can make the connection that some photos won't be worth keeping. In this case, don't import those photos into iPhoto or whatever. They will eventually fall off your photo stream.

A workaround: If you want to force Photo Stream to only show the photos you want it to show, you can reset Photo Stream which removes all photos leaving you with zero pictures in Photo Stream. Then you can upload only the ones you want back into Photo Stream.
