There doesn't seem to be a way to delete photos from Photo Stream.

I understand the purpose of Photo Stream is to make sharing photos between devices a zero effort affair and is not meant as a sharing service like web galleries was in .Mac/MobileMe but this goes a little too far in simplicity.

There should be some control over which photos make it to the photo stream or at least a UI on iCloud to manage photos after they've been uploaded to the cloud -- if not via Aperture or iPhoto.

Am I missing something here? Is there a way to delete images from Photo Stream?

You can delete all your photos from the Photo Stream, just not individually. I expect this will be implemented in by Apple sooner or later.

Go to http://www.icloud.com/, click on your name in the upper-right hand corner, select Advanced and select 'Reset Photo Stream'.

Thanks for the tip! However it's buggy. While the button is there, it doesn't actually work. My photo stream still has all the same images despite having deleted them off my devices as well as having used the reset button in iCloud.com

Another way is to do it by going to settings > iCloud turn off photstream. Press delete photos then turn it back on. It deletes em all for that device but it will still be on others so you'd need to do it for those. Not the best of solutions I know.

Has anyone here tested Photo Stream from iPhoto? The way I understand it, EVERY picture you add to iPhoto is automatically flagged for upload to Photo Stream.

So, for instance, when you come home after a day of shooting photos in the park and plug your camera in, all those hundreds of shots you took start flowing into your Photo Stream even though most of them are from series you took in order to get that one good shot.

Is that how it works?

There's an option in iPhoto to turn off automatically uploading them.

I just found it as mine all started uploading! Doh.

I think I read that the photos that are uploaded to photo stream only stay for 30 days. So it's not a true album, it a series of current photos to share. Am I right?

Yep! We definitely need the option to delete and organise the Photo Stream, otherwise is useless other than as a backup device.

If you turn automatic upload off in iPhoto (where is that option, by the way?), does it still receive Photo Stream updates from iDevices? Like, if you take a picture with your iPhone and it's added to PS?

The option is under Preferences in iPhoto - make sure you have the 9.2 update installed.

If you turn PHOTO STREAM off then nothing gets uploaded. So no. I don't think so, but I just got everything working, no way i'm turning it off.

Excellent! That's a big relief :)

I take it iPhoto also offers some "manual" way to add photos to Photo Stream, if you decide to disable automatic uploads?

Need to be updated...Then you can use the full features. This week has reminded me of the bad old Windoze day's.....Update after update! Just when I'd backed up my iMac, Air and new MBP, and got wifi syncing sorted out. I turned on my ATV and (Yep) another iCloud update.....I think it's safe to say I have them all now:)

I don't think individual pics can be uploaded, from what i see it's all or nothing.
Basic flaw that, me thinks.
