photo synching with iCloud

I'm a bit confused by the way the new photo synch works with iCloud.

After I take pics and video with my 4S, they will synch to my Macbook Pro, though only for 30 days?

1. Will video synch also or just pictures?

2. If they are synched to my Macbook Pro, how is it only for 30 days? Are they not actually downloaded to the Macbook Pro? Are they only accessible to view on the Macbook Pro with an internet connection?

3. If they are downloaded, does that mean I could just get the 16GB 4S and have it constantly synch photos to my Macbook Pro and than I would just delete them from the 4S?
