Photocopiers Started Again

Well I found this picture on MSN Messenger... whenever you go to look at someones profile. Well I have to say the picture behind the windows logo... looks familiarly like our standard Mac wallpaper... just darkened, I guess they scanned it a lil wrong haha

I think this is another one of those things where it's jsut not worth it to bicker over who invented what... that kind of image has been around in computers for a long time...I'm not so certain it was in MacOS X first.

Yeah.. it gets annoying when people complain about who had the product/design first. There are some things that may be worth joking about once or twice in Vista but now it seems like everyone has to say "Apple/Microsoft had this/that first".. Not referring to this thread exactly, but it is getting old.

that and attacking the logo look. yeah I seen it design look around a lot longer than it been in OSX or any apple OS. So believe that M$ took it from apple yeah no. Now that look is pretty common in design today and used quite a bit for new stuff. So M$ pulled it from the fad. If you are going to complain about that then I just say apple's Dashboard, Time Mac, and Spaces are complete rips off and copies.

or lets go even loser lets call the dock a complete copy of the task bar.

I mean really this enitre coping one is weak. It is the trend right now to use the art work. Hence the reason it being used

Actually Konfabuilator (or what ever that thing was called) was derived from desktop gadgets (or something, I can't remember what they are called!) from the original Macintosh.

Also, the dock is completley different from the taskbar. The taskbar is document-orentated, that is it shows all the open documents. The dock shows all the open programs. The taskbar has the start menu for opening "Control Panel", recent documents, "My Computer", ect, ect. The Mac has no equivient (which is a good thing, IMO). The only thing similar is the fact that they both open programs (albeit by different means-Start against an icon). The taskbar and the dock are fundamentally different.

clearly you missed the point of the post. I was trying to point out how stupid OP was about calling what M$ was a complete copy. And was saying if you want to call htat coping then my list falls under coping.

It's irrelevant whether it's been copied or not. The simple fact is that Microsoft just cannot do it as well, whoever copied whom.

Jeeze people microsoft is not that bad. I will tell you one thing if vista is alot better than leopard which it probably isn't I will jump brands in a heartbeat. Same thing with the zune, it it is better than the ipod then well screw the ipod. I mean there is a reason I use word/excel over the crap apple offers for the same task (ie appleworks and pages)....just the fact it is so much better. Also why I use keynote over powerpoint

My philosophy is to get the product that is the best quality out there and at his moment it is apple with its os and ipod.

People need to get mature about things. I mean apple isnt a religion so no reason as to always believe that apple can't do no anything wrong and that everyone else out there just plain sucks.

What's better for a company,person, or anything than constructive criticism. I would much rather be told how to improve than have a bunch of "yes men" always at my side who agree with anything i do.

The Dock came out 1991ish from the NeXT company. NeXT computer was purchased in 96/97 by Apple. Microsoft came out with the taskbar in 1995 with Windows 95.
