Hey guys,

I have an opportunity this summer to be an assistant to a wedding photographer . I was wondering if you guys had any pointers on how to be an effective and useful assistant.

Thanks.

totally cool
Be good with a fill reflector when its needed (light in both eyes).

Make sure batteries are charged.

Keep the CF cards managed and safe.

Be sure to wrap up all cables and lights neatly and quickly to be able to take off at a moments notice.

Discreetly suggest poses and locations to the photographer.

Help with the bride's bouquet and train if possible.

Keep breath mints (tictacs) in your pocket, not gum. In case they are needed.

The Library.
Carry a leatherman or swiss army knife
Keep a cell phone with numbers of prop houses, photo stores, etc.
Be able to change lens caps fast
Dress nicely, but be comfortable and try to blend in as much as possible
Don't act like you know more than the photog, even if you do

don't forget to keep some blotting powder on you at all times...

i know it sounds crazy, but it really does help with bald heads/shiny faces... and the photog won't have so much editing to do on those areas :)
