I have a very organized photo library in iCloud. It's close to 200Gb and I created/organized it in MacOS. Basically I have a folder for every year going back 20 years. Within each folder I have albums, one for each major event that year (Christmas, Beach Vacation, Kid's Sports, Other, etc). I couldn't be happier with the organization (and how well iCloud Photo Library works across Mac/iPhone/iPad.

On the Mac, I have a smart folder for "all photos not in any album". This is basically where new photos go before I get around to adding them to the appropriate year/album. Again, this works great, but that's on the Mac.

Is there ANY way to do something similar in iOS? I know iOS Photos doesn't have smart albums, but is there a way to know what albums a photo is included in? If so, I could just look at the most recent photos and tell which ones are "not in any album" yet.

I thought when you swiped up in iOS Photos it showed what albums the photo was in, but that only works for people in the photo.

I have a similar set up but I don't think there is anyway to do what you want unfortunately. You cannot even see that albums they are in (if they are in several) on the Mac. And Smart Albums do not appear on iOS either which is what you are saying.
